DIPLOMA IN URDU (For foreigners and non-Urdu knowing Indian students)

1. Every candidate seeking admission to the 1st year of the two years Diploma Course in Urdu must have passed the Senior     School Certificate Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or an examination recognized as     equivalent thereto and possess such other qualifications if any as may be prescribed by the regulations.
2. Admission to the second year of the Diploma Course will be open to those who have passed the One-Year Certificate Course     Examination in Urdu of the University of Delhi, or an examination from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto.

3. The examination for the Diploma Course shall be written and oral according to the following scheme:

Paper-I       Composition and Applied Grammar Max. Marks 100
  (i)       Translation from English or Hindi into Urdu 35
  (ii)      Composition-Essay, Letter writing, Precis writing, Idioms 45
  (ii)      Applied Grammar 20
Paper-II       Advanced Texts and History of Urdu Literature Max. Marks 100
  (a)      Text     
  (b)      Rapid Reading  
Paper-III     Viva-Voce 100
  The students will have to secure 40% marks in each written paper and 40% marks in the viva-voce test to pass the examination. Those who secure 75% or more marks in the aggregate will be declared to have passed with Distinction.
